Has someone ever installed Hostmonitor on a W2K Cluster?

My Setup:
The Service is installed on both Nodes and everything else is on a Shared Disk (Apps and Config Files). The appropriate Registry keys are configured for Registry Replication. The Service is running as "LocalSystem" HM Version is 3.40

Almost everything works fine, I am able to move the service between the two nodes and Failover is working as well.

The only Issue:
If I'm on the Node that currently owns Hostmonitor, and once I have opened Hostmonitor in "Application Mode" (by clicking the HM Service Icon on the taskbar notification aera), I am no longer able to normally close the Application. The "Close" symbol and the "File -> Exit" menu do not work anymore. I have to click the Hostmonitor Taskbar button to close the HM Window. After that, I am no longer able to log off from the Node! I first have to move the HM Service to the other Cluster Node, an then I can log off normally.

Any Ideas?

Not exactly. If you start HM in service mode, it displays icon. When you click on the icon HostMonitor displays window but it still in service mode, service does not start another instance in application mode.

Yes "File->Exit" doesn't work because HM started as service. However "Close" symbol must close window and keep just icon. It doesn't work?

H'm, strange. And system does not display any error? Just does not log off?

Hi Alex,

Yes, sorry, that is what I tried to say

> However "Close" symbol must close window and keep just icon. It doesn't work?

No, if I click the "close" Symbol, it just doesn't react. But i just tried the "minimize" Symbol and this one works! (doesn't minimize the window, but closes it)
But after that, i still can't log out until i move the Service to the other Node.

Thanks for the hint! I just dicovered that each time i click the "close" symbol, there is a application log entry created saying "unable to write to hostmon.ini"
However, the ini file is there, everyone has full control at the moment, and the file is "read-write". What is the program trying to write to that file? It also happens if i don't change anything. Maybe a timing problem?

Stefan

Sorry for delay, I forgot about this topic

Yes, HostMonitor tries to save information about window size, position, current file every time you close main window. Question just why this I/O error appears. I could assume that account that you use to start HM as service (specified on Service page in the Options dialog) does not have permission to write into that directory/file. But you said "everyone has full control at the moment". May be another program (e.g. another instance of HostMonitor) works with ini file at the same moment? HostMonitor accesses ini file when you start program, close window, change parameters in Options dialog.
