I am also using Motorola's Canopy Radios and would like to utilize SNMP Get to check which access point a particular radio is registered with. Can you tell me how soon you plan to support this? The last post for this was back in 2004. |

SNMP Trap listener uses our own code and it supports SNMP v2 messages.
SNMP Get test method uses Windows API (mgmtapi.dll). According to Microsoft, Windows 2003 supports SNMP v2.
I am not sure about Windows 2000 and XP (have not found information).

I look forward to this feature being available.
Hostmonitor has everything i'm looking for except for this ability.
Any new dates as to when this will be implemented ?
Thanks;

hmmm...then it doesn't work.
I can't talk to canopy devices for some reason.
I've double checked the community name, and still nothing.
It works with trial version of solarwinds, but not with hostmonitor.
Any suggestions ?

What test method do you use? SNMP Get?
What exactly error do you see?
What version of HostMonitor? Windows? Service Pack? Can we have access to your device?

test= traffic
also tried system uptime get using oid found in the mib browser.
Error i get = Can't connect to remote SNMP agent
Version of hostmonitor=5.88 evaluation
Windows XP service pack2
Device is on private ip (sorry)
I can ping the canopy device and http to it...but cannot SNMP with it.
Host monitor works great with cable modems, but not with Canopy for some reason.
If others aren't having trouble, then it must be something i'm doing wrong ?

We tried to found more information regarding this matter... but did not find any official (Microsoft) article that confirms XP supports SNMP v2. Microsoft confirms that Windows 2003 supports SNMP v2 but it does not say anything about XP.
Some people in different forums say XP works SNMP v2 but we do not have official confirmation.

Strange how snmp v2 works on xp for other vendor's SNMPv2 products , but not hostmonitor.
I really don't want to change operating system.
But I really like hostmonitor functionality.
But I really require snmp v2 to work as well. |

I haven't encountered any similar problems using HM and other snmp-based pollers.
What is the OID of the device that you are trying to get info from?
Are you able to browse using HM's snmp browser into the device? |

Can't do anything with devices that are snmp v2 only...not even MIB browse.
Maybe SNMPv2 is still too new.
Device is Motorola Canopy with OID= 1.3.6.1.4.1.161.19.3.2.1.39
MRTG is able to graph this oid.
I also tried PRTG's latest Beta Version
"This V5.3 beta introduces support for SNMP Version 2C and 3 (see version history for details).
Version: V5.3 Beta (Mar 10th 2006)"
Hoping that HM can do snmpv2 sometime soon.

Looks like this is single instance object. Then you should add ".0" to the end "1.3.6.1.4.1.161.19.3.2.1.39.0"

Application may use its own code to perform SNMP requests or application may use Windows API. For example HostMonitor uses our own code for SNMP Trap tests but it uses Windows API for SNMP Get test method.
