we're having a weird problem. we have a URL content test that fails 10% of the time for no reason. we don't even know where to begin to look.

Lets start from begining. What exactly means "fails"? Do you see "Bad" status? "No answer"? "Bad content"? "Unknown host"?

It means web server works (and probably works fine) but data that you want to see appears on the page not every time.
What exactly do you check? Some ASP page?
The more information you provide, the more helpful answers you will receive.

the page is JSP. whenever we get the bad content message, we check the page and the content is there (basically we're just making sure that there is a particular picture shows up on the web page). i'm not sure what other information to give you.

For example you may provide URL and test settings...

we wanted to make sure that the section that says featured items is monitored

our test has the check contents - should contain - featured items

I have setup URL test using your URL. HostMonitor performed 200 checks so far, no "bad content" yet.
Probably your network connection is not very reliable? E.g. connection lost before HostMonitor receives entire web page...

Are you sure? You said 10% of test results - error. My system performed over 400 checks, no error.

You mean store entire web page in the log? No, its not possible.
But if error occurs often, you may use IP-Tools's HTTP utility to check what is going on.

BTW: What version of HostMonitor do you use? Windows? Service Pack?
