2 CPUs on TerminalServer - CPU Usage

Post by pwittwer »

Hello,

i want to see the CPU Usage on a TerminalServer.
It doesn't work with the "CPU Usage" and/or "Performance Counter".
With "Performance Counter" i even don't get counter to choose. What's the problem? :o

All i want is a message which popup when the CPU Usage is over 50%. It's possible to get it work with HostMonitor?

On the TerminalServer are many Java-Applications and only one user get a CPU Usage over 50%

Thx for help! :D

I don't know what the problem because there are many possible reasons.
What error message do you see in "Reply" field of the test item?
Target system located in the same domain with HostMonitor? Different domain? Different LAN protected by firewall?

Please make sure
1) RPC service is started on your systems
2) Remote Registry Service started on target system
3) PerfOS.DLL is enabled on target system
4) HostMonitor is started under admins account
5) There are no firewalls between 2 systems

Microsoft provides "Extensible Counter List" utility: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
This utility displays list of DLLs that are used to support Performance Counters, using the utility you may disable/enable specific DLLs.

Hello,

1) RPC started
2) RRS started
3) PerfOS.dll is located on TerminalServer - what do you mean with "enabled"?
4) Adminacc active
5) No firewalls - same domain

reply CPU Usage:
STATUS: Unknown

Performance Counter:
I click on CheckCounter and type the name of the server. After that i want to choose the objects on the Server. No entries are listed.

TerminalServer
Windows Server 2003
DUAL Xeon 2,4ghz
2k RAM

I want to monitor the server from my admin-workstation.
Both are in a domain.[/img]
