Maybe the WinXP firewall on the client denies the incomming connections.

Dial up connection not in list

Dear sir,

We have HM v4.42 on w2k-server sp4. When I create a dial-up connection in windows and I want to add it in my bad-actions, it doesn't appear in the pulldown-list on the action-parameter.

(I have already rebooted the machine..)

Thanks in advance!

File compare is not working

Hello Alex, I'd thought you'd might have nothing to do, so here is another problem for you  I have HM v4.42 running with an Agent v1.18 running on a W2k-server. I want to check the textfile \\server01\d$\apps\veritas\data\a.txt (which is on the local server) for a string "testje". Th...

I have changed "Event type" switch to "any of the following". It's strange though, because tests from other servers had the same setting and were not reporting as bad. I'll keep an eye on it.

Result turns into BAD, while the message is informational

Hello! We have HM v4.30 with RMA v1.17 and we are checking the system-eventlog of a server through an agent. The test results into bad, while the message (see below) is informational and not an error.... Is there somekind of a workaround? EventID: 36880 Source: Channel Category: None Type: Informati...

Checking backup logfiles Arcserve and Backupexec

Dear sirs, I have found a way to check if your backup has been succeeded. Fortunately it works with both Arcserve and Backupexec (and maybe others, but I wasn't able to test it). It simply makes use of the habit of both applications to dump their backuplogs in plain text-format in a special director...

RMAService Error when starting agent too fast

Dear sirs, When I stop de RMA on the client-side and I start it too fast (within 10-30 seconds) the following error appears in the log2.txt: [26-1-2004 16:44] RMAService Error: cannot open port #1055. Probably port in use And of course connection is not possible. When I wait for a whole minute, than...

Tests being checked do not appear on the webpage

Dear sirs,

When refreshing the website, the tests that are being checked at that moment are not shown at all in the list. After refreshing the tests appear (either as bad or as good).

(Hostmonitor v4.16)

With friendly regard,
Wimmo

I cheered too early: the error came back. :(

We replaced the rather outdated machine for a faster one. Performance is now much better :) and it seems to occure only seldomly now.

I don't know how, I don't know why, but the error has disappeared, and has not come back for the past 7 days...

Probably after either rebooting the servers or the hostmonitor-machine... thanks anyway for your quick replies!!

check the application-log, security-.... Sorry for not making myself clear. It is hostmonitor who checks the eventlogs, not I. The errors are not shown in the eventlogs, but in the Hostmonitor-panel as reply-value. In other words: Hostmonitor checks the eventlogs. The application-logs are being che...
