Quote: So actually it shouldn't be handeled as 'bad' - you are right. But a test which behaves 100% according to it's schedule and ran 'OK' last scheduled time should IMHO have the status 'OK' (or whichever was the last test status). Now you probably right. I have added your suggestion into to do l...

The solution is as simple as beautifull  Just define your own MIB, using HostMonitor! This is what we use as action parameters: Action name [/i]: SNMP Trap (so we sent an snmp trap to our management server) Destination Address [/i]: <ip of our OVO server> Agent Address [/i]: %CommentLine5% (in...

Is there a way to have KS Host running while machine is logged off?
You have to install HostMonitor as a service. See the manual for this: How to install HostMonitor as Win32 Interactive service

We perform about 9000 tests (most every 10 minutes) and log to sql (on the same server).

What we see is that the gui is slowly responding when a lot of tests are running, but tests are performed ok.

Enabling connection pooling solved our problem with an insufficient memory message for odbc logging.

we logged all replys from the test also in MSDE
Perhaps you reached the maximum database size for MSDE (2 Gb).

If you need larger databases, you need a full blown sql server.

Fehler 1053 Der Dienst antwortet nicht rechtzeitig auf die Start- oder Steuerungsanforderung. It means the service did not notify windows 'in time' it was started correctly. This is a known message. We also have this "problem". It never really meant that hostmonitor is not running. See al...

a little bug

When importing new entries (import from text file), HostMonitor wil before starting the actual import show how many folders wil be created. The first screen (before the actual import) wil always show 1 folder less than what is to be created.

After the import, the number of new created folders is ok.

From there Tivoli picks up the event logs and processes service tickets through them
If possible / permitted you could sent an snmp trap (as work-around).

We send snmp traps to our management server (HP Openview) for every status change HostMonitor detects.

HostMonitor can work with both system dsn and user dsn. When hostmonitor is running as a service, it can only access the system dsn. So configure a system dsn and tell HostMonitor to use it (miscelaneous page in the options dialog).

There is no problem in copying your .hml and .lst files, even if HostMonitor is running.

We use a simple copy script to create a copy of our configuration (every night).

What we do is the following: 1. Create an import text file with a command script. 2. Import the created text file in HostMonitor. In that case we always use the same settings for new and known tests. In our case we can pass several options to the script, which wil generate the various tests we need ...
