Thanks. Will review this and more, and report back. Sometime. Good grief, about the time I get a bit of time to work this stuff, the tide comes in again and other things drag me off screaming. :-?

Sysvol testing

This one's tough. Does anyone have some techniques, methods, scripts etc. they've developed and would be willing to share? We had corruption on all 21 DCs last Friday, and had to do an authoritative restore. Time-consuming. We could have gone home a bit sooner if we'd had a couple hours' earlier war...

Delay before dependent test

I'd like to see an option for specifying a delay before a dependent test is run. For example, servers come up and begin pinging before they're ready to respond to a test for disk space. But the disk space alert will be thrown, because it runs immediately once the ping test qualifies. Increasing the ...

We're having this same problem, and we're current on Hostmon versions. I'll happily walk through some things with you, to troubleshoot. In the options dialog, jabber settings are hostmon@im.domain.com, with login server of im.domain.com. im.domain.com resolves fine, and the account works because I c...

Thank you!

We will test the test. ;-)

(edit -- seems to work. kudos!)

Alas, no. Packet payload alone doesn't work as an XMPP stanza.

I note some other monitoring systems have XMPP, so I reckon Hostmon will eventually have it too. ;-)

XMPP test?

We'd like to monitor the integrity of our Wildfire service. That's true in general, but it's especially true because we're having problems with it and we can't identify the moment of failure by data in the logs. A frequent ping of the service would help us nail that down and correlate the log data w...

Something like that, yes. Rather than tell you just what I'd like to see just now, though (I'm going to have to think about this), I urge you to consider what a "network and services status page" might look like for users. Hostmon has a lot for I.T. staff, but as far as I can see it would ...

"Network services status"

This is something I'd really, really like to see. It's one thing for those of us with technical support roles to have great information coming into our pagers, accessible on the web, and so forth. Works great. But what we're facing now is a need to let our users see what's down, in a web page for ou...
