Hi all,

We run HM 8.86 with about 500 tests on W2K8 R2 on a Dual Core Xeon 3.2GHz with 10GB of memory.

For no apparent reason HM stopped monitoring this morning at 00:11h.
HM was still running and the interface still working, but no records have been logged until we restarted HM this morning at 09:31h.

No events in the HM syslog for that time or period.

Of course I've also scavenged through the Windows event logs, but nothing appeared to have happened at that time.

Other processes, like Backup Exec, running on the same machine, ran just fine.

I don't think this has happened before, but I can't be sure.

We rely on HM 100%, so this is quite worrying.

Any ideas?

Do you use ODBC logging or ODBC test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
Do you have installed some antivirus monitors, personal firewall, content monitoring software? Non stanard winsock components?

Alex

We have no ODBC logging nor any ODBC tests.
Windows Firewall service is disabled.
Microsoft Security Essentials is installed, but HM program folder is excluded.

What kind of tests do you use?
Could you send your settings to us (support@ks-soft.net)?

Hi Alex and Kris,

I have the same issue and discussed this topic already with Alex without result in http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=29111 .

I started hostmonitor V 9.13 at 28.03.2012 with 10.000 test items last time and yesterday the system stops testing without any errors after approximately 32.000.000 checks.

In my experience the application runs smoothly every time approx. 2 or 3 weeks and then monitoring stops abrupt and I have to restart the hostmonitor service.
There are no error messages and nobody stopped or paused monitoring.

As workaround I have installed a 2nd HM installation to monitor the 1st HM installation with some "HM Monitor" tests so I get an alert message via SMS when no tests are executed in specific intervall.

By the way we use Windows Server 2003 SP2 on HP ProLiant DL380 G6 (8 Core 2.27 Ghz Intel Xeon/4086 MB RAM). We have 30 test/sec

Unfortunately I can't remember the HM version without this phenomenon...

Best regards
Enrico

I upgraded from 8.68 to 8.82 an then the problems started.

HM-Service stuck every few hours on server 2008 R2 64bit.

Please lets use 1 thread for 1 issue.
Now we are using 3 different threads plus e-mails and I am totally confused is this one problem or several diffrent problems. What version of the software is in use, etc....
Are you Georg Höllebauer?

Better use e-mail - we still waiting for configuration files.
Have you tried to disable logging including private logs?

If you have something to share, lets use the following thread
http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6757

Hello Alex,

I right now disabled all logging - private and system. Lets see.

I already sent you configuration files in March and you didnt find a problem - since then only a few changes were made. Do you mean that you may have missed something the first time ? If i send you config-files -> are there any credentials saved in the file ? I ask because of security reasons. which files do you need ?

I will switch over to my thread
