Hi alex,

The imports are working great now but i stumbled on to a small other problem.

I work in a bank environment and hostmonitor will be used on dedicated servers to monitor others. We can only access these servers via rdp because of physical access restrictions to the control room.

Now when hostmonitor runs as a service it puts a small icon next to the clock from which you have to say show to bring the running hostmonitor into view.

This icon only exists on the Console session and not on other rdp sessions.
As we are restricted again from using the console session normally we have a small problem there.

If users click on the hosmonitor icon (desktop, not next to clock) they start a second manual session for hostmonitor and not use the service one.

This might give conflicts in adding and deleting jobs.

Is there a way to start the service session of hostmonitor in other rdp sessions ?

Thanks

Little suggestion: use the "search" feature of this bboard... 90% of the questions are already covered !

Answer to you question is here:

hallo pieter,

That's not what i meant really.

i don't have console acces either tru rdp or direct at the server normally.
I have on my test system but i won't have it on my production system.

I can't use the batch file workaround as the service has to be running all the time (due to automatic updates and required specs)

So i need a way to connect to the service in any rdp session possible and not launch a second hostmonitor instance.

If this doesn't work it should be foreseen i feel. This behauviour put's a litlle damper on our review process

By the way , ik ben ook van belgie

Thanks

I had the same problem...
If you are using Windows 2003 then you can solve the problem.
If not, the you'll have to use another connection like vnc, pcaw, radmin, ...

Quote from the topic I linked:

Since you are using W2K3, you can use the RDP in console mode.
change your shortcut to your RDP client to
"%SystemRoot%\System32\mstsc.exe /console"

If service and application use the same account, HostMonitor's behavior will be the same in both cases. It means monitoring will be stopped just for several seconds when you reload service/application.
