Monthly report problem

Post by brito »

Hello

I have the option of the log settings "Automatically change the log every month" and "write the record when test status change" marked. Every month a new log file is generated. In the beginning of every month hostmon records "host i alive" for the server A, if it doesn't happen any status change to the end of 3 months and 15 days, my report it will show 100% of alive time of the server A for a period of 3 months and 1 day, when the correct would be to show 3 months and 15 days. How to do for the hostmon to consider my server A the "host i alive" until the day 15.

I append de logfiles 122004-log.htm, 112004-log.htm and 102004.htm and log analyzer show statistics for a 3 months.

Not sure I understand. Reports and logs are independent... unless you are talking about reports generated by Log Analyzer? But you are changing log file every month, how it can show statistics for 3 months?
Could you please clarify, what exactly report do you use?

monthly report problem

My options :

Log Settings: "Automatically change the log every month" and "add the record when test status changed"

I open Log analyzer today(17/01/2005) - file 012005-log.htm and he shows my server server1 with the following registrations:

01/01/2005 00:16:49 Host is alive
10/01/2005 08:02:19 Host is alive

And the period show: 9 days 07:45. Why?

I would like to know the period of the server until the present moment.

Because 10/01/2005 08:02:19 - 01/01/2005 00:16:49 = 9 days 7 hours 45 min and 20 sec

If you need detailed statistics, use "Save information about every performed test" logging option (Log Settings page in the Options dialog)

MONTHLY REPORT

Post by brito »

This option uses a lot of area in disk. I have 50 servers being tested (ping test) to each 2 min.

Why doesn't the log analyzer calculate the period until the moment of the execution? If the status didn't change means that the server is alive until the present moment.

Also it could mean that HostMonitor does not check that server anymore.
H'm... probably we should add some option like

Consider end of testing interval is
- last test's record
- last record in the log
- end of the day
- end of the week
- end of the month
- end of the year
