Hello,

We configured ODBC-Loging and "save information about every performed test"
The ODBC destination is a MS-SQL Server installed on the same Server.
Now, the performance of the entire system is very bad.
The Windows process LSASS.EXE has a cpu-usage about 30 percent.

Is this a known problem?
or any idea how we get a better performance?

we use:
-Windows 2000 Server
-Advanced Hostmonitor Version 4.86
-Microsoft SQL Server Standard 2000

Greetings

Mischa

The system is domain controler? Do you see errors in the Event Log ( errors with code 1168 or 8 )?
Microsoft has some solution for this problem: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842382

No, the system isn't a domain controler.
and there are no errors in the event log.

if we log only status changes the performance is much better.
but we need information about every performed test

Found some articles but not sure they can be applied to your system.
Some questions:
- have you installed Service Pack 4?
- only LSASS.EXE has a high cpu usage? what about services.exe?

we have installed sp4
services.exe ~10%

we found the problem!

it wasn't lsass.exe
it was the norton av realtime file-protection!

thanks a lot

Yeah, NAV often leads to some problems. My common 1st question should be "do you have any antivirus monitor installed on your system?" I forgot about that
