Hi,

I have version 8.86 installed and I wish to update to the latest version.

I tried to just follow the installation wizard and choose update, but the result was that many configurations weren't saved.

What is the correct way to do that?

Thanks

What Windows do you use?
Since version 9.30, HostMontor can store configuration files separately from program files:
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/news.htm#v930

This has bee done because Windows Vista+ OSs use file system redirection and store configuration files in different places for different users (if it is located e.g. in "Program Files" folder), while application "thinks" it uses same path.

Since HostMonitor 9.30 default data folder is C:\ProgramData\HostMonitor\. It is not affected by file redirecion.

Please follow these steps to find your configuration files:
1. Check current configuration files location:
Check the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KS-Soft\HostMonitor\DataFilesPath
for x64 Systems:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KS-Soft\HostMonitor\DataFilesPath
If DataFilesPath is not present, HostMonitor will use current HostMonitor folder.

2. Find your real configuration files:
check folders similar to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HostMonitor\
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\HostMonitor
Or check your backup copies.

3. Make backup copy of all configuration files.

4. Copy/replace all (*.HML, *.LST and *.INI files) real configuration files (found at step 2) into current configuration files location (step 1)

Thanks

I started the update but when I start HostMonitor it popup an error that says:

"Cannot load TestList from file "D:\hostmonitor.hml"
String is too long. File may be corrupt.
Only 479 tests was loaded (Header indicates 479)
Do you want to see saved tests"

If I click OK, it seems fine but the next time I start HM it popup the same error.

What should I do?

.HML file can be damaged.
Please send your .HML to support@ks-soft.net.

Thank you for the file.
We've used HostMonitor 9.30 to load your TestList and no error messages appeared.
It looks like you've saved/rewrited it and then sent it to us.
