Hi,

We created a folder containong all HTTP / URL tests for our web applications and after adding a bunch of them the report stopped being sent, we only get this in the e-mail: <> File too big (over 48K)

My report is a HTM report that weights 142 Kb

My mail setting is as simple as this for the body:

Code:
<br>
<<IncludeFile=D:\Host Monitor\Private\Techno_Prod_Servers.htm>>

Is there a setting somewhere to increase the size that can be sent, to 1MB or more if needed?

Thank you.

-Robert

Yes this is size limitation.
Quote from the manual
=============
Please note: size of external file should not exceed 48K.

No, there is no setting that you may change. Normally (for HostMonitor) is to use attachments when you need to send big files.

Alex

Thank you for the rapid answer!

ok,
are there plans to increase this limitation in the future or is this a dead end?

I presume that you have a good logic reason to do this, but just out of curiosity, why a 48K limitation?

Thank you Alex!

Well, 48K or 96K probably is not a big difference but this function was designed for external templates/variables, etc. Its not designed for big reports...

Hi,
I am sorry, but I do not understand your answer, it does not seem to answer my 2 questions:

are there plans to increase this limitation in the future or is this a dead end?

I presume that you have a good logic reason to do this, but just out of curiosity, why a 48K limitation?

I hope that this limitation will be removed in the future...

There is no plan to change this option but as you may know we change our plans pretty often because we make software for customers.

Because this function was designed for external templates/variables, its not designed for reports, it has different purpose.
"Attachment" function was designed for reports. I think its easy to use this option. Am I wrong?

hahaha yes I know

Ok, so I will try to change the mail to include an attachment, but since it is a mail sent to non-tech people I am pretty sure that they will naturally stop reading it instead of opening an attachment (natural human lasyness). I hope I am wrong though...

This beig said, being able to display a bigger e-mail is the best way to go.

Thank you for your answer, I will now do the change and see if people still use it.

Have a great day Alex

Yes, its more political than technical issue. However when you have 50,000 test items such minor political things may become big technical issues.
Actually we recommend to send just links instead of entire report, this will save resources and client may view latest reports when he needs.
