Bug with 'Test By' (agent)..jumps back to 'hostmonitor'
Hello,
I'm using KS-Soft Hostmonitor since 2009.
Recently i'm experiencing an issue with tests performed by an agent.
I was using version 8.84. After notifying this problem i upgrade to 9.02beta.
This goes for:
as well active and passive agents.
I've installed the agent on a computer (in this case, one of hour SQL servers)
We want to test drive free space...which does seem to work good on other servers.
The issue is:
At my monitor pc i use RCC.EXE.
All my servers have ACTIVE agents installed. This SQL server also a PASSIVE one since i´m testing this bug, or what looks like a bug.
I create a new diskspace check item, select ´test by´ ACTIVE-SQL01-AGENT
(later on i tested with PASSIVE-SQL01-AGENT also)
Everything works fine till this point...I can select 1 of the 3 disks in this SQL01 server.
I complete this test by filling in schedule, testname, mastertests, logs and so on.
Finally i select ´OK´
The test is saved now.
In RCC.EXE, or hostmon.exe on the monitor-server itself, i see the test name ´drive space c on sql01´
it replies okay with a free diskspace of 600GB right now (after finishing the test). Ofcourse i press 'SAVE' in the menu.
The column 'test by' SHOULD be showing 'ACTIVE-SQL01-AGENT' (or PASSIVE-SQL01-AGENT')...but no.. it displays test by 'HostMonitor'.
I don't now exactly when, but after 1 test (?) it monitors the diskspace of the HostMon pc in stead of this SQL server.
SOME FURTHER INFO:
I don't know if this is exact the same problem..but it has something to do with it.
When i take a look at ALL DriveFreeSpace checks..i see (correctly filled in): test by 'ACTIVE-CORRECT-AGENT-NAME'.
So...all test (except for the SQL01 problem above), show a correct name.
when i double click / open one of these tests, it displays 'test by hostmonitor'. THAT is weird too.
When exiting this test...it still displays the correct 'test by' and 'reply value's'
AFTER SOME FURTHER TESTING:
This is an RCC.EXE Issue. |

As we know only version 9.00 Beta (RCC 4.00) had this problem.
It was fixed in version 9.02 Beta (RCC 4.02).
Quote: | The following issues related to version 9.00 were resolved
- HostMonitor and RCC: when you select Remote Monitoring Agent (RMA) for Drive Free Space test (only this test method was affected) using Test Properties dialog, HostMonitor/RCC could set "HostMonitor" option instead of specified RMA. Fixed
- HostMonitor: ODBC Query test method did not check BIG_INT fields properly |
We just checked version 9.02 once more and we cannot reproduce the problem.
Are you sure you are using Advanced Host Monitor version 9.02? May be you installed version 9.00 Beta, then updated HostMonitor to version 9.02 but forgot to update RCC?
What version of RCC do you use?
Regards
Alex |
