Hi,
We want to integrate HM with an existing asset database.
Currently we use SOAP calls to another monitoring app to configure the tests. Because of the lack of other functionaly, we want to check the possibility for HM to interact with our AssetDatabase
Are there plans to implement a SOAP/WebService access methode ?
There is the telnet interface that uses the RCI, but it is hard to save each change to a file, telnet to the server and run an import of the tests.
Regards

We plan to implement SOAP test that will be able to check some variables. Probably pretty soon.
As I understand you need something else, you need some SOAP Test Import functionality? Not sure we will do that.

Well, if you can create import file, then its not a problem to setup some test item to check for this file (e.g. File/Folder Availability or File Integrity) and import test items automatically using Execute HM Script action

Hi,
Indeed, the idea has not a new test.
Rather a way to interface with the hostmonitor service.
A way to read test results, change test parameters, ... through a SOAP based WebService http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webservice
This would allow us to interface HostMonitor with our frontend Asset management system.

Well, it not easy small task. If many cusomers will ask the same option, we will include task into "to do" list. Otherwise...

Another option would be to openup the RCI. This would allow us to create our own SOAP proxy that translates RCI to SOAP...
