doubt about "timeout" in http test

Post by wathen »

In http test, there is a "timeout" option, and beside it ,if we press "advanced...",we will find another option,"Set 'Bad' status when total download time is longer than NN msec"; the help file interprets that,
"With this option enabled HostMonitor will check total download time and mark status as "Bad" when download time is longer than specified". Could you tell me what's the different between them? "timeout" is not the total download time of the whole monitored page?

"Timeout" option gives you "No answer" status and "Timed Out" in Reply field. "Set 'Bad' status when total download time is longer than NN msec" gives you "Bad" status, but in such case HostMonitor will wait for a page to complete downloading and in reply field it shows you real download time of the page.

thanks admin for activation .

So,would I take in the meaning that the "timeout" is only monitoring the page without reply at all ? It does not pay attention to the page's open-time? while the "Set 'Bad' status when total download time is longer than NN msec" monitor the page's downloading time?

- Timeout specifies how long HostMonitor should wait for responce from web server. HostMonitor drops connection if web server does not respond within specified time.
- "Set 'Bad' status when total download time is longer than NN msec" option tells HostMonitor what responce time is good and what time is bad.
