3 wishes and thanks..

Post by Stoltze »

Hi Alex,

I saw a new monitoring system yesterday. Compared to AHM, it costed 10 times as much, but could only ping a host, and perform 3 tests. But the tests required software on each host!!!

So all put together, AHM is superior, at less than 1/10 of the price.. Thank you very much Alex!!! :)

But, off course there are some things that can be done with other systems.. And some things could be very nice to have..

1) Wishlist/roadmap on the web? Could that be possible?

2) Being handled. When an alarm rises, you can mark this as being handled. But maybe this is a task, for a separate log?

3) A detailed debuglog. Eg when AHM sends email etc, it would be nice to see exactly what AHM did or tried to do.

Hope that I has explained my self.. :)

You are welcome :-)

Sorry, not quite sure what is wishlist/roadmap?
2) Being handled. When an alarm rises, you can mark this as being handled. But maybe this is a task, for a separate log?
H'm, new status for the test? "being handled"?
And keep this status until test restores "good" status?
And calculate statistics as "being handled" == "bad"?
And if the test is master test ...
Many questions arise.

Probably better add additional "being handled" flag instead of new status.
And may be its good to reset this flag if test did not restore "good" status within specified time. And set another flag "repairing failed".
Ok, but how do you want to use these flags? Display it in a report?
3) A detailed debuglog. Eg when AHM sends email etc, it would be nice to see exactly what AHM did or tried to do.
HostMonitor can save this information into log. Please check "advanced logging" page in the Options dialog.
But it cannot send this information by mail. So, you are talking about some actions history for each test? Like "Quick log" that provides status history for each test?
Interesting idea...

Regards
Alex

What the plans are for AHM. What do you expect will be included in future releases.. Guess it would be like your ToDo list online..

Yes, I can also see all these problems.. Many many questions.. But I was thinking about some of the things that you are talking about.. :)

No, not send this by email.. But see what AHM did.. Eg, Test gone bad. Choose action profile "Profile 1", do the first option. Send message to PC. Do action 2, send email. Email send.. That kind of stuff..
