RCC connection error: "invalid argument"

Post by dick »

Anyone any answer??:

When trying to connect i always get this error:
"Connecting... Failed. Connection error. An invalid argument was supplied."

RCC > LAN > HostMonitor(W2K3)

(no firewalling)
(acceptable IP range specified in user profile)

Thanks

It means you have specified inavalid Host IP or Port in RCC.

Could you check you have enabled RCI in HM > Options > RCI and have set correct Host IP and port?

You should try to increase timeout too.

RCC and HostMonitor does not reply with "An invalid argument was supplied" message. So it must be responce from winsock. What system is running on RCC machine? Service Pack? Any antivirus monitoring software? Content monitoring software? non standard winsock?

NOD32 is a very powerfull tool, but it modifies the Winsock layer of Windows to insert it's POP3 proxy and simetimes it can kill your connection. Could you try winsock repairer?
http://www.nod32.com.sh/winsock.html

But before that you should review Event Log for suspicious error messages.

That was it... The updated NOD32 winsock.

I added RCC.EXE to the exclude list at IMON setup to workaround this problem. Whenever software is running smoothly, you never think about that software.... In this case NOD32.

Thanks, Alex, Thanks Yoorix!

RCC is a very great addition to HostMonitor!

bye
